I went to a doctor a year or so ago for a series of tests as part of
one of those annual health checks.
When we had a review at the end of the process, I said to the
consultant, ‘OK, I’ve done all the tests now. What is your advice
to me?’
All he answered was, ‘I haven’t really got any.’
‘Oh,’ I said, ‘that’s a bit disappointing. You’re not exactly
cheap, and I’d rather like to get some feedback.’
He looked calmly back at me. ‘James, what do you want me
to tell you that you don’t already know? Shall we just go through
it? Are you eating correctly?’
‘No.’
‘Are you exercising correctly?’
‘No.’
‘Are you working too hard?’
‘Yes.’
