liked to see in the C V?’ People will happily tell you there and
then.
As you move forward to the next job opportunity, you can
perfect your C V, tailor it again based on those comments.
Practice makes perfect. Even very senior managers can always
improve their C Vs. How many times do Rafael Nadal and Roger
Federer hit the ball in a practice session? And does that have any
relevance to why they are great sportsmen? How many times
has David Beckham kicked that ball to curve it round a wall into
the net? Do you think he only did it once? No, he kicked it again
and again and again, to get better and better. The process here
is no di≠erent.
You will reap the rewards of the time and e≠ort you put
into creating the very best C V you can. Your C V is a potential
passport to success – it could bring you a job you will be in for
the next ten years. It could be the job that changes your life, the
job that brings you to your next big opportunity. Of course it is
worth the investment.
Do not skimp on any e≠ort at this stage. Because in today’s
world, getting the interview is everything. Job hunting is a
process. If you take Stage One, you need to get your C V in front
of the hiring manager and get him or her to see you. And in that
component, why compromise? Because if you fail at that, there
is no process. If you don’t get the call, you are out of the game,
and you will never have the opportunity to move on to Stage
Two: the interview itself.
