him I thought he should go back to law: ‘I think that is really you;
it’s who you are.’
He was deeply disappointed, but in his heart of hearts
he agreed. He had made such a big commitment, taking the

sabbatical – quite a bold move for him. I am sure he would have
loved things to work out. But sometimes it’s just as useful
to know what you can’t do as what you can.
