ironed? Yes, it was. Did I pick out the right suit? Of course. It
wasn’t a dramatic pinstripe suit, it was a plain navy suit, with a
white shirt, red tie. It had to be clean, professional; I needed to
             present a solid image.
Before each and every interview you need to go through a

detailed mental checklist. If I was alongside you, taking you
through every step, I would insist that you put a tick against
every box, double-checking every single aspect. Is your shirt

unironed? Bad sign – it looks terrible. Have you thought about
your tie, your hair? I would question you about everything –
down to your nails, the pen you are taking along, the pad you’re
going to use for note-taking, the way you sit, the way you shake
the interviewer’s hand, the way you acknowledge questions.

Think about how you will interact throughout the process.

                   ■ Have you addressed the list of questions that you are
                     going to be asking?

                   ■ Have you prepared and considered all the information
that you have researched about the company?
                   ■ Have you thought through the highlights of the job
that you are applying for so that you can make sure you

have addressed each of the elements?
At each stage I would ask, What is the point in gambling

that you might get it wrong?

All of this is what it takes to get the job that is going to
             transform your life.
